Welcome to Sparrow's Host!

Sparrow's Host in memory of Johayna Barker Mullen

Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore do not fear; you are of more value than many sparrows."  ~ (Matthew 10:29-31

God's faithfulness is anchored in his love, his concern, his care over every detail. He demonstrates it from the vastness of the stars in the heavens to the tiny bird that falls from a nest upon the earth. He demonstrates it in your life and in my life. But his faithfulness is better experienced than explained. This is the same God whose eye is on the sparrow.

Sparrow's Host is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer. All profits from the sale of these custom-made birdhouses will be donated to the American Cancer Society for cancer research. Finding a cure has been a personal battle for my family. I lost my mother to ovarian cancer on Nov. 1, 2000. Then on Oct. 17, 2005, my sister was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Cancer took her life, as well. The fight continues, but it takes everyone working together. Cancer is a vicious disease!

Since my mother’s death, she has been honored as an educator by having a new elementary school named after her. Her dedication to educating children and adults lives on through Thelma Barker Elementary School in Jackson, Tennessee.

Now I am honoring my sister, Johayna Barker Mullen, through Sparrow’s Host.  As a teacher, she provided shelter, love and acceptance for all children who have migrated through her classroom. Likewise, these birdhouses will provide shelter for all kinds of birds that migrate in and out of your life.
